Heritage Of Ownership Badge/Medallion

Back in 1989 Cadillac began rewarding their loyal customers with a grill badge upon the purchase of their new vehicle. This "Heritage of Ownership" medallion was made of solid brass (golden in color) and served to display the owners loyalty and pride in the Cadillac brand. The badge itself proudly displayed the name "Cadillac" alongside a roman numeral representing the number of new Cadillac's you have owned in your lifetime.

After a lifetime of purchasing Cadillac's you would be rewarded the "Master Owner" medallion (upon the purchase of your 40th Cadillac). To collectors this is the most sought after of all the badges and are often sold in excess of $200!

Sometime in the early 2000's the badge was updated to fit the more modern Art and Science style of newer Cadillac's. The overall shape of the newer badge resembles a golf putter type of shape with a face pattern that mirrors an exaggerated first generation CTS grill. It features a metallic grey and silver color scheme (in varying arrangements), providing a more subdued appearance to match modern cars. The number on these is in small white print within a small bubble on the face of the badge. You can also choose to opt out of the numbering scheme and simpy have the Cadillac Crest.

An interesting thing to take note of is that the newer badges are meant to be placed on passengers side (to match the pattern of the grill) whereas traditionally the older badges were worn on the drivers side.

To get one of these badges I would suggest Craigslist, Ebay, or the junkyard. You can also choose to give your local dealership a call, if you have purchased a new car from them recently your salesperson should offer it to you at no charge.

If you aren't interested in buying a used one you can always send your current VIN and the number of Cadillac's you've owned to:
